About

A handy and easy-to-use app to open and view epub documents. You can use a local or remote document, however, for remote documents, the server must allow the fetch request. You can choose night, light or sepia mode for reading the book.

Description

This web application is designed to open epub files in your browser. You can use a local epub document or a remote address. For a remote address, the app needs to fetch the document before compiling to it HTML5; therefore the server must allow remote access. ePub Reader uses a JavaScript project called epub.js. This API is available for all modern browsers and has a relatively reliable and fast performance. According to our test, the performance is best when you use the chrome browser. However, it also works in Firefox and Opera. This web app is not using any other third-party libraries or servers and, therefore, it is safe to use in terms of privacy and security. We do NOT send or store your file(s) in any remote server; everything runs locally on your machine (browser). This web app can be used on any machine that uses modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox or Opera.

To work with this web application, simply drag & drop your epub file in the designated area in the app UI (top-right corner). Alternatively, you can use a remote address for the epub document. Please note that, because this is a web application when you are using a remote address it might fail to fetch the document, because, most servers have CORS policy. Therefore, if you faced this problem when using a remote address for an epub document, please first download the file to your machine and then drag and drop the file in the app UI to view the document. You can choose a theme (night, light or sepia) for the viewer via the left side toolbar. Moreover, there are options to adjust the font family, line-height or page size from the left sidebar. On the top toolbar, there is a drop-down list for the epub reader view. Currently, there are 8 views to choose from and the default view is - scrolled continuous. Please note that all changes are automatically saved in the memory, so the next time you load the app, all the previous settings are pre-loaded.

ePub Reader is also available as a browser extension. As an extension, this app can load all remote epub documents without facing the CORS issue. Download links for three popular browsers are as following: Chrome, Opera, Firefox.
