This web application is designed to make SVG from input image files (i.e. PNG) via HTML5 tools in your browser. It uses a JavaScript API called imagetracer. This API is available for all modern browsers and has relatively reliable and fast performance. This web app is not using any other third-party libraries or servers and, therefore, it is safe to use in terms of privacy and security. We do NOT send or store your file(s) in any remote server; everything runs locally on your machine (browser). This web app can be used on any machine that uses modern browsers such as Chrome, Firefox or Opera.
To work with this web application, simply drag & drop your image file to the file I/O area in the app (top-left corner), or click on this input area to open the file input window and then select your image file. Then, adjust desired settings related to the SVG image (bottom section). For example, you can choose a rasterizing method from the available 15 options. If you choose the custom options, you can also adjust some refined settings, for example, SVG scale, stroke width, etc. Once settings are done, please click on the - Vectorize - button to generate the SVG file. Please note that there is a checkbox below the rasterizing methods dropdown list labeled - Live preview. If you mark this option, a live preview for the resulting SVG will be rendered when you make any changes in the app. The time to finish the rasterizing process depends on the input source (size and complexity of the input image file) and also your machine specs. In general, try to use this app for simple to moderate conversion tasks and avoid large and complex images, as, the app may crash or your browser may freeze during the rasterizing process. Once the SVG image is ready, you can save the file to your machine by clicking on the - Download - button (top-right corner in the app UI).
Image Vectorizer app is also available as a browser extension. As an extension, this app does not need an internet connection and can be used offline in your browser. Download links for three popular browsers are as following: Chrome, Opera, Firefox.
