Offline Chat with AI

An easy-to-use and user-friendly offline chatbot application for your browser. It uses the built-in AI engine (Gemini Nano) in your browser to provide answers to any user prompt. Currently available for any Chromium-based browser with minimum version 127 (i.e. Chrome Canary).

This web application provides a user-friendly interface for the built-in AI in your browser. You can easily chat with Gemini Nano in your browser without an internet connection. Once the AI is fully loaded and ready, the app works completely offline. Therefore, you have full privacy and security for all your chats. Currently, this web application is available for Chromium browsers with a minimum version of 127 (Chrome Canary). Moreover, there is a setup process to enable the AI engine before using the app. Once the setup is complete, you can start using this web application.

Please follow the below steps to complete the setup process for the built-in AI.

1. Install Chrome Canary (www.google.com/chrome/canary/) or any compatible Chromium-based browser (version 127+).
2. Open "chrome://flags/#prompt-api-for-gemini-nano", and set it to: Enabled
3. Open "chrome://flags/#optimization-guide-on-device-model" and set it to: Enabled BypassPerfRequirement
4. Restart Chrome browser.
5. Open "chrome://components/" and find the item "Optimization Guide On Device Model" and press the "Check for update" button.

How to troubleshoot the above setup:

1. If you do not see the "Optimization Guide On Device Model" in step 5, please disable the settings in steps 2 and 3, restart your browser, and re-enable them again.
2. Please ensure the device model in step 5 is fully downloaded or the status is Up-to-date before using the addon. The model is rather large (around 2GB) and may take a few minutes to download. So please be patient while it is being downloaded.

To work with this web application, simply type a text prompt at the bottom input area and then press the submit button or hit the Enter key. The app will generate the answer in streaming format, meaning, the answer is gradually completed as it is generated by the AI. You can change this behavior via the settings pane on the left toolbar. There is also a list of all previous chats on the left toolbar. Please note that since this technology is new and under development, you might see some bugs or crashes in your browser. If anything unexpected happens, please reload the app by pressing the reload button on the left toolbar. In the future when this technology gets improved and updated, this web application will be automatically updated as well.
