Technical notes about MP3 file format

MP3 files are the most commonly used and popular format for storing an audio file. It was created by The Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). This digital music format is used for making high-quality sound files. With this format, the way people listen to music has changed. MP3 utilizes a compression algorithm; this is a great way to decrease the size of the file. For example, a waveform audio file (WAV) is a lossless file that might be nearly 30MB in size, whereas this same file in MP3 format might be of 3MB in size.
